Code of Conduct
| 1. Our Shared Standard |
Enville Golf Club is a members’ club built on mutual respect, good judgement, and consideration for others.
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards expected of everyone who uses the club to deliver:
- An enjoyable experience for all
- The smooth running of the club and course
- A welcoming, modern, and respectful environment
By using the club’s facilities, all individuals agree to uphold these standards.
| 2. Core Expectations |
All members, guests, and visitors are expected to:
- Act with courtesy and respect towards others at all times
- Avoid behaviour that disrupts play or the club environment
- Follow club rules, competition conditions, and reasonable guidance from our teams, whose role it it to support the smooth running of the club.
- Support the pace of play and flow of the course
- Treat the course, clubhouse, and facilities with care
| 3. On the Course |
Players are expected to uphold the traditions and etiquette of the game, including:
- Being ready to play and maintaining position on the course
- Allowing faster groups to play through where appropriate
- Caring for the course (e.g. repairing pitch marks, raking bunkers)
- Ensuring safe and responsible use of buggies
- The emphasis is on continuous play, awareness of others, and respect for the course at all times.
| 4. Dress Code (All Areas) |
Principle
Members and visitors are expected to dress in a way that is appropriate for golf and the clubhouse environment, reflecting the standards of a modern members’ club.
Clothing should be:
- Clean, tidy, and in good condition
- Suitable for the activity being undertaken
- Respectful of the club environment and other members
Guidance
- Recognised golf attire is appropriate on the course
- Smart casual attire is appropriate in the clubhouse
- Headwear should be worn conventionally
- Footwear should be appropriate to the setting
Rather than prescribing specific garments, the club expects members and guests to exercise good judgement and present themselves in a manner that is appropriate for a private members club.
Where there is doubt, a more formal or traditional standard should be followed.
The club reserves the right to challenge attire that is considered inappropriate.
| 5. Mobile Phones & Digital Devices |
Principle
Mobile devices are an accepted part of modern golf and club life. Their use is supported where it enhances the game but that must not disrupt others or delay play.
On the Course
Mobile devices may be used for:
- Competition scoring (including visitor competitions)
- Club and National golf Apps and systems
- Handicap information and course guidance
However:
- Devices must be kept on silent
- Use must be brief and not delay play
- Phone calls are not permitted during play, except in emergencies
- No speakerphone or audio playback
Clubhouse
- Devices should be used in a way that does not disturb other clubhouse users
- Calls should be taken discreetly and away from others where possible
- Laptops may be used in designated areas or with prior agreement
| 6. Clubhouse & Facilities |
- Members and visitors are encouraged to support the clubhouse as a central part of their time at the club.
- Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests
- Visitors must be signed in where required
- Members must not reprimand staff. Any concerns should be raised with the General Manager
- All users are expected to support and maintain clubhouse standards
| 7. Car Park & Surroundings Vehicles should be parked considerately |
- Any incidents involving damage or injury must be reported immediately
- Vehicles should be parked considerately
| 8. Behaviour & Respect |
All members, guests, and staff are expected to:
- Treat others with dignity and respect
- Avoid any form of discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour
- Maintain a family-friendly environment appropriate to the club setting
Behaviour that brings the club into disrepute, including, digital or social platforms, may be addressed under this code.
| 9. Governance & Compliance |
This Code of Conduct forms part of the club’s wider governance framework, alongside:
- Club Rules and Bye Laws
- Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures
- Other policies adopted by the Board
Any breaches willl be addressed in accordance with the club’s disciplinary procedures.
