Jacob White – Junior Captain 2022
“I joined Enville in 2016. My Dad had joined the year prior and I am thankful for my parents and grandad for giving me the opportunity. Throughout my time at Enville I’ve made many friends which I am grateful for, and I’ve drastically improved my game. My handicap has reduced considerably due to the challenging nature of the courses that make me want to come back for more.
Since joining the Junior Section, I have been eagerly hoping to be called up to be able to represent the club as Junior Captain and I am honoured to do so.
I thoroughly enjoy representing the club and watching our Junior team play in matches and I am confident that we have a great chance of being successful this coming season. As instigated by our immediate-past Junior Captain, Hayden I will be continuing the success that is the Junior roll up that takes place weekly where juniors of any ability can participate, and I look forward to meeting everyone there.
Now that I’m in Year 12 at college, I currently have more time to play golf and improve my game and at the same time enjoy what Enville provides. I thoroughly look forward to my Junior Captains Day on the 19th of June; I can’t wait to see everyone there and I am eager to see what the rest of the season beholds.”
Junior Captain’s Day
Junior Captain’s Day in August 2021 was combined with Hayden Dowler’s Junior Captain Drive In and The Junior Club Championship. The gross trophy was won by Ben Bolton, who at 14 claimed the unique achievement of winning both the Junior and Club Championships. The nett trophy was won by Ben Chapman.
Junior Captain’s Drive In
In July 2021, Niamh Chambers had her Junior Captain’s Drive In, which had been delayed by the pandemic restrictions. This was combined with our Qualifier for the Daily Telegraph Justin Rose Junior Golf Competition.
Included in the membership fee are 2 lessons with Pro Richard Copsey as well as some group lessons, which are well attended and enjoyable.
In May with the support of Golf Foundation Scott Witton and the Junior Organiser visited 3 secondary and 2 primary schools of the Invictus Trust, and gave 1 hour taster sessions to 48 girls. They were invited back to Enville for a further hours tuition.
The Juniors competed in matches within 2 leagues, coming 3rd in the NGL and finishing with a win at Halesowen to come second in the WMGL.
Under 16 Girls Championship
Enville once again hosted the R&A Under 16 Girls Championship and on the last day 3 of our Juniors, Evie Gregory, Junior Vice-Captain, Nick Simpson and Junior Captain, Jacob White had the honour on the last day of carrying the scoreboards for the last 3 matches.
In November the Junior section organised a charity Adult and Junior open to join the rest of the club in supporting the fund raising for Pat Randle.
